Raise a glass of rum-based goodness on National Daiquiri Day!
The delicious daiquiri was likely invented by a Cuban miner named Jennings Cox. In 1898 during the Spanish-American War, Cox was a mine engineering supervisor in a village named Daiquiri.
After a long day in the mines, Cox and his colleagues would gather at the local bar. One day Cox mixed Bacardi, sugar, and lime into a glass of ice. The refreshing concoction was an immediate hit and quickly became a popular drink in Havanna and throughout the world!
