National Carrot Cake Day
Dessert? Vegetable? The debate rages on in 2025 as National Carrot Cake Day is upon us! While the origins of the day are uncertain, we do know that carrot cake recipes date back to at least 1872 when one appears in a French cookbook.
As for the origins of the cake itself, historians believe it dates back to medieval times when sugar was in short supply. Carrots were a perfect sweet substitute!
Whether you subscribe to the ‘vegetable’ theory or simply enjoy it as a sweet treat, serve up some carrot cake as a perfect ending to today’s dinner!
