It’s National Sock Day
If you can believe it, the practice of wearing socks dates back more than 2,000 years. Early people used matted goat hair to weave some warmth around their feet. In fact, they typically wore them with a split in the toe to fit their sandals. Wearing socks and sandals was trendy even then!
Today we celebrate socks of all kinds… quirky, athletic, high, low, colorful – even mismatched! More importantly, National Sock Day reminds us that not everyone has the means to keep their feet warm and toasty during cold weather. Consider donating a pair or two of socks to your local shelter, church, or other organization to help those in need.
