It’s National Frog Jumping Day
National Frog Jumping Day leaps onto our calendars every May 13th. It’s a day that celebrates a unique blend of blend of literature, nature, a bit of whimsy, and…well…frogs.
This special day originates from Mark Twain’s first published story, The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County, which introduced the world to a frog-jumping contest that captured the imagination of many.
It also helps focus our attention on the crucial role frogs play in our ecosystems. As an agent of insect control (without pesticides,) frogs help maintain a natural environmental balance.
