It’s Fire Prevention Day
While we typically like to highlight the fun and quirky national days, today is an exception. Instead, we are drawing attention to some ugly statistics. More than 3,000 Americans die in house fires each year, and roughly 358,000 homes experience structural fires annually.
Fire Prevention Day, part of Fire Prevention Week, helps to raise awareness of practices that can help prevent these disasters and recognize the work of the brave firefighters who battle them.
Here are a few ways to help your family stay safe:
- Test all smoke alarms (and change the batteries!)
- Plan an escape route
- Set a meeting place
- Hold regular fire drills to practice
